eBay listing generator: a full eBay listing from one photo

Snap a photo of the item (or scan its barcode) and Listem writes the eBay title, description and item specifics, checks the price against what similar items actually sold for, and posts it to your eBay account in one tap.

Free plan: 2 listings a day, eBay posting included. No card needed.

How it works

  1. Add a photo or scan the barcode. One clear photo is enough. Add the brand or size if you know them: the bits a photo can't show.
  2. Listem writes the listing. You get an eBay-style title, a factual description, tags and the item specifics buyers filter by: brand, model, size and colour.
  3. Check the price. Listem searches recent second-hand sales and current listings, then suggests three prices (Sell fast, Balanced and Top price), with links to the listings it compared.
  4. Fill in the gaps and post. Anything only you know, like condition, is left as a highlighted gap. Fill it in, change any line you like, then post to eBay in one tap.

What makes an eBay listing sell

These are the same rules Listem writes by. They're worth knowing even if you write listings by hand.

1. A title built from what buyers type

eBay titles can be up to 80 characters, and buyers find items by searching, so use the space for words people actually search: brand, model or model number, item type, then size or colour. "Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-Ear Headphones Black" gets found. "Amazing headphones L@@K!!" doesn't, because nobody searches for "amazing".

2. Item specifics, not just a description

The filters down the side of eBay's search results (brand, size, colour, model and so on) come from item specifics. A buyer who ticks "Sony" or "Size M" won't see a listing that leaves them blank, however good its description.

3. A description that states facts

Lead with what a buyer checks first: what it is, the model, size or measurements, and what's included. Then condition, and be exact about flaws: "small scuff on the left earcup" beats "some wear". Skip filler like "must-have" or "timeless". It makes a listing read like an advert, and buyers trust plain facts more.

4. A price from sold items, not asking prices

What people are asking and what things sell for are often far apart. On eBay you can tick Sold items in the search filters to see real sale prices. Listem does that research for you across eBay and other second-hand sites, and shows its working.

5. Photos that show the truth

Use daylight and a plain background, and include labels, model numbers and any damage up close. Honest photos mean fewer returns and better feedback.

What a Listem eBay listing looks like

Example of the format

Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-Ear Headphones Black

Sony WH-1000XM4 wireless headphones, black. Noise cancelling, Bluetooth, up to 30 hours battery. Condition: condition

Item specifics: Brand Sony · Model WH-1000XM4 · Type Over-ear · Connectivity Bluetooth · Colour Black

This shows the style only. Your listing is written from your own photo and details. Notice what it doesn't do: it doesn't invent a condition, a "worn twice" or a reason for selling. Things only you know are left as gaps for you to fill in.

Posting to eBay safely

You connect your eBay account through eBay's own sign-in page. Listem never sees your eBay password. Listings are posted through eBay's official selling API, not by a browser bot clicking around in your account, and you can disconnect at any time.

Questions

Is the eBay listing generator free?

Yes. The free plan gives you 2 listings a day, including posting to eBay. Casual (£7.99/month) gives 10 a day and lists on up to 3 marketplaces at once. Premium (£24.99/month) is unlimited and adds bulk mode for listing a whole batch in one go.

Does it post without me checking?

No. You see the full listing first, fill in the highlighted gaps and change anything you want. It only goes to eBay when you tap to post.

What can I list with it?

Anything you can photograph: clothes, shoes, electronics, toys, homeware, collectables and more. For boxed products, books, games and CDs, scanning the barcode is often quickest.

Can I use the same listing on Vinted or Depop?

Yes. Pick those marketplaces (Casual and Premium can write for several at once) and Listem rewrites the same item in each site's style. eBay gets a factual, spec-led listing; Vinted and Depop get short, casual lines. You copy those across with one tap.
