Depop description generator: from photo to listing
Snap a photo of what you're selling and Listem writes your Depop description: a first line that says exactly what it is, a few relaxed lines of real detail, and the hashtags buyers search. It also checks what similar items go for second-hand. Copy it into the Depop app with one tap.

How it works
- Pick Depop as your marketplace and add a photo. Add the brand or size if you know them; a photo can't read a label it can't see.
- Listem writes it Depop-style: a first line with the brand, item and size, two to four short, relaxed lines of detail, and around five hashtags people actually search.
- Check the price. You get three suggestions (Sell fast, Balanced and Top price), based on second-hand listings it found on Depop, eBay, Vinted and other sites, with links so you can see them.
- Fill in the gaps, then copy. Size and condition are left as highlighted gaps for you to fill in. Tap Copy on the description and hashtags and paste them into Depop.
How to write a Depop listing that sells
Make the first line do the work of a title
Depop has no separate title box, so the opening words of your description are what buyers see first. Lead with exactly what it is: "Vintage 90s Nike colourblock windbreaker, size M" tells a scrolling buyer everything. "OMG obsessed with this!!" tells them nothing.
Spend your five hashtags well
Depop allows up to five hashtags in a description, so make each one something a buyer would actually type. Specific beats generic: #vintagenike, #90s or #windbreaker will match real searches, where #fashion or #cute get lost. Don't spend one on a bare size like #w28; size has its own field.
Fill in Depop's own fields
Brand, category and condition are picked from Depop's lists when you list, and so is size for clothes and shoes. Buyers filter by them, so a listing with the wrong size or a missing brand won't show up for the people looking for it, however good the description is.
Keep it short, relaxed and true
Depop's tone is casual, but casual doesn't mean hype. A few plain lines (what it is, fit, colour, material if you know it, condition) sell better than a paragraph of adjectives. Write as the owner ("Boxy fit, full zip") rather than describing a photo ("This appears to feature…").
Give measurements and be exact about flaws
Sizes vary between brands and eras, especially vintage, so pit to pit and length for tops, and waist and inside leg for trousers, save buyers guessing. Say exactly where any wear is: "small mark on the left cuff, last photo" builds trust that "some wear" doesn't.
Use all your photos
Depop lets you add up to eight photos. Use them for the front, back, labels and tags, a close-up of the fabric, and any flaws. Clear, honest photos mean fewer questions and fewer returns.
What a Listem Depop listing looks like
Vintage 90s Nike colourblock windbreaker, size M. Navy, teal and purple panels, full zip. Condition: condition
This shows the style only; yours is written from your photo. It doesn't invent a condition, a "worn twice" or a reason for selling. Those are left for you to fill in.
Questions
Does Listem post to Depop for me?
No. Listem writes and prices the listing; you paste it into the Depop app with the Copy buttons. eBay is the marketplace Listem can post to directly.
Is the Depop description generator free?
Yes. The free plan gives 2 listings a day. Casual (£7.99/month) gives 10 a day and writes for up to 3 marketplaces at once, handy if you list the same item on Depop and Vinted. Premium (£24.99/month) is unlimited, with bulk mode.
How many hashtags does it add?
Around five, the most Depop allows in a description, led by the brand and the exact item. You can swap any of them before you copy.
Can I change what it writes?
Yes. Every line can be edited before you copy it, and the gaps for size and condition are there for you to fill in.
